Rumour mills have been spewing out various reports regarding Sony’s upcoming flagship, the Xperia XZ4 lately and it is being speculated that the phone will see the light of the day at the Mobile World Congress which will take place later this month. Recently, the company filed a trademark with the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) for ‘CinemaWide’. This can mean that customers will be treated to a high-quality display or maybe something else?
CinemaWide Might Be a Marketing Name for the Tall Display of the Xperia ZX4
The ‘CinemaWide’ trademark is classified as Class 9 which is a general class which covers various devices such as smartphones, tablets, and displays. The trademark was filed on February 4 and since the MWC trade show is just around the corner, it might be referring to the display of the Sony Xperia XZ4. Per past reports, the phone is expected to come with an extra tall 6.5-inch HDR OLED display with an aspect ratio of 21:9 and a QHD+ resolution of 3360 × 1440 pixels.
Sony might announce the Xperia XZ4 during the MWC at an event that will take place on February 25 in Barcelona, Spain. The phone is expected to come with a triple camera system on the back with a 52MP camera sensor, a 16MP telephoto sensor, and a 0.3MP ToF sensor. The phone will most likely be fueled by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal memory. A 4400mAh battery will reportedly run the show, making it a generous-sized capacity from Sony. The phone will most likely come pre-installed with the Android 9.0 Pie update.
Previous leaks have stated that the smartphone will come with a 3.5mm audio jack, which would be a surprising move seeing as how the Xperia XZ3 doesn’t have a 3.5mm port. Apart from the Xperia XZ4, Sony is expected to unveil four other smartphones during the MWC 2019 trade show, including the entry-level Xperia L3, the mid-rangers XA3 and XA3 Ultra, and another variant of the Xperia XZ4 called the XZ4 Compact.
