Samsung has just released the first One UI 8.5 beta, giving Galaxy S25 series users an exciting preview of the upcoming software update. Among the new features, the standout is a clever Storage Share function that promises to make managing files across Samsung devices easier than ever.

Access Your Files Anywhere

The Storage Share feature lets you view files from your other Samsung phones, tablets, and even PCs directly within the My Files app on your Galaxy phone. According to the official changelog, you can also access your phone’s files on other Samsung devices, including your TV. This means no more juggling multiple devices or complicated transfers just to get to your important documents or photos.

Hands-On Experience

Testing the feature on a Galaxy S25 Ultra running the One UI 8.5 beta, it’s clear that Storage Share is easy to enable via a toggle in the My Files app. Shared storage appears under the external storage section for quick access. For example, a colleague was able to remotely browse files stored on a Galaxy Z Fold 7 from the S25 Ultra.

While you can view files remotely, saving them directly to the host device or Quick Sharing them via Storage Share isn’t supported yet. Still, this feature opens up exciting possibilities for cross-device productivity — imagine snapping photos on one device and editing them seamlessly on another, or simply browsing your phone’s content on a Samsung TV without casting.

Quick Share Gets Smarter

One UI 8.5 also brings enhancements to Quick Share. The app can now recognize friends or family in your photos and suggest sharing those images directly with them. It’s not yet clear whether this facial recognition runs locally on the device or uses cloud processing, but an on-device approach would be a privacy win.

Additionally, you can now restrict Quick Share to only receive files from devices signed into your Samsung or Google accounts. Previously, this was only possible for Google accounts, so adding Samsung account restrictions is a fresh layer of control and security.

Overall, Samsung’s One UI 8.5 beta hints at a more connected and intuitive ecosystem for Galaxy users, making file sharing and device integration smoother than ever.
