Samsung has started rolling out the One UI 8 Watch update based on Wear OS 6 to its Galaxy Watch FE, the affordable smartwatch launched in 2024. This device is essentially a rebranded Galaxy Watch4, aimed at offering a budget-friendly option to users.
The update is currently available in South Korea with firmware version R861XXU1CYK6. It includes the October 2025 security patch, which is somewhat outdated as of December 2025, but such delays are common in the Wear OS ecosystem.
If the rollout in Korea proceeds smoothly without major issues, Samsung is expected to expand the update to other regions in the coming days and weeks, allowing more Galaxy Watch FE owners worldwide to experience the latest software improvements.
Users in Korea can manually check for the update by opening the Galaxy Wearable app on their smartphones, navigating to Watch settings, selecting Watch software update, and tapping Download and install.
