Samsung Eyes Exynos 2600 for Galaxy Z Flip 8
Samsung is reportedly considering its newly unveiled Exynos 2600 chipset as the main processor for the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8, potentially continuing the trend of using in-house chips in its flip phone series. The Exynos 2600, announced recently as the world’s first 2nm smartphone chip, promises significant performance improvements over its predecessor, making it a strong candidate for powering Samsung’s next clamshell foldable device expected next summer.
According to The Bell, the latest details have emerged.
Key Specifications and Performance Gains
The Exynos 2600 is built on the advanced 2nm Gate-All-Around (GAA) manufacturing process, marking a notable leap in chip technology. It features a 10-core CPU based on Arm’s latest v9.3 architecture, including a prime C1-Ultra core clocked at 3.8GHz, three high-performance C1-Pro cores at 3.25GHz, and six efficiency cores at 2.75GHz. Samsung claims this configuration delivers up to 39% faster CPU performance compared to the previous Exynos 2500. Additionally, the chipset incorporates an Xclipse 960 GPU and an upgraded neural processing unit (NPU) that doubles the performance of its predecessor, offering a 113% boost.

Background and Industry Context
This potential move would mark the second consecutive year that Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip series opts for an Exynos processor instead of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chips, highlighting Samsung’s confidence in its in-house silicon. While the Exynos 2600 is also rumoured to feature in select Galaxy S26 models globally, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 could benefit from the chip’s efficiency and performance enhancements, especially given the demands of foldable display technology. Previous reports have hinted that Samsung might alternatively use a special edition Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip for the Flip 8, but according to sources cited by The Bell and 9to5Google, the Exynos 2600 remains the frontrunner unless unforeseen issues arise.
What to Expect Next
As Samsung finalises its plans for the Galaxy Z Flip 8, the choice of processor will be a key factor in the device’s overall performance and market appeal. If the Exynos 2600 is confirmed, users can anticipate a foldable phone that benefits from cutting-edge chip technology with improved speed and efficiency. Fans of Samsung’s foldables should keep an eye on further leaks and official announcements as the launch approaches next year.
