Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra Set for Global Debut Around MWC
As Mobile World Congress (MWC) approaches, Xiaomi is preparing to launch two of its 17-series flagships on the global stage: the Xiaomi 17 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. According to leakster Yogesh Brar, these models will be available internationally, with Europe expected to receive them just before MWC (March 2-5), and India following shortly after in early March. While the Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max remain exclusive to China, the vanilla 17 and 17 Ultra will mark Xiaomi’s global flagship offerings this year.
Design and Colour Variants
Leaked renders have surfaced showcasing the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra in their global colour options. The Xiaomi 17 is set to come in Blue, Green, and Black. Notably, the Green shade is a new addition for the international market, as it was not part of the Chinese release. Interestingly, the Pink colour variant seen in China will not be part of the global lineup.
Meanwhile, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will be offered in Starry Green, White, and Black. The Chinese model also featured a Purple option, which appears to be omitted globally. Additionally, the premium Leica Edition of the 17 Ultra will have exclusive colours, including Black and Off White, although these have not been pictured in the leaks.
Battery and Dimensions
A key difference between the Chinese and global Xiaomi 17 Ultra models lies in battery capacity. The international version is reported to have a 6,000mAh battery, a reduction from the 6,800mAh cell found in the Chinese variant. Despite this decrease, the global model maintains the same thickness of 8.29mm and is expected to weigh roughly the same 223 grams. The Leica Edition is slightly thicker at 8.46mm and heavier, tipping the scales at 230 grams.
Pricing and Market Position
Previous leaks have suggested that the Xiaomi 17 with 512GB of storage will be priced around €1,100, implying a base 256GB model could cost approximately €1,000. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra with 512GB is expected to retail at about €1,500. These pricing points align closely with those of the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Ultra, which also launched globally at MWC in 2023, indicating a consistent flagship pricing strategy from Xiaomi.
Looking Ahead
With the global launch of the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Ultra imminent, fans can expect to see these devices officially unveiled around the time of MWC. The new colour options and slight hardware adjustments for international markets highlight Xiaomi’s tailored approach to different regions. It will be interesting to see how these flagships perform globally, especially with the Leica Edition adding a premium touch to the Ultra model.
