Xiaomi has officially confirmed the launch of the Leica Leitzphone, a collaboration that blends Leica’s century-long expertise in photography with Xiaomi’s smartphone technology. The announcement came via Xiaomi’s Spanish X account, which shared a teaser revealing the device will debut alongside the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra at a global event in Barcelona on February 28 at 2PM local time.
This new handset, previously certified outside China as the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition, carries forward the legacy of its Chinese counterpart but with some subtle design tweaks. Notably, the international model is expected to feature a fully black rear panel instead of the two-tone dark colourway seen on the original. Additionally, both Leica logos on the back are rotated by 90 degrees, a curious change that sets this edition apart.
The Leica Leitzphone is the result of four years of close collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica, aiming to elevate mobile photography to new heights. The device inherits the advanced camera technology and premium build quality associated with Leica, making it a compelling option for photography enthusiasts seeking flagship-level performance combined with expert imaging capabilities.
