Apple’s Unrivalled Market Share in Q4 2025
Apple has solidified its dominance in the U.S. smartphone market during Q4 2025, capturing an impressive 69% share according to the latest data from Counterpoint Research. This milestone comes on the back of the successful launch of the iPhone 17 series, which has helped maintain Apple’s momentum and made it increasingly difficult for rivals to challenge its position. The company’s stronghold is reflected in its recent Q1 2026 earnings report, where iPhone sales accounted for over half of the staggering $143.756 billion revenue.
Key Drivers Behind Apple’s Growth
A significant factor contributing to Apple’s market share surge is the aggressive promotional campaigns run by major U.S. carriers such as AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. AT&T, in particular, has recorded its highest ever Apple sales, with 89% of its smartphone sales attributed to the brand. The iPhone 17 Pro Max emerged as the top-selling model across all three carriers, further cementing its appeal among consumers. Meanwhile, Samsung’s share declined to 13% during the same period, highlighting the challenges faced by the Korean manufacturer in maintaining its foothold.

Samsung’s Upcoming Strategy and Market Outlook
Despite the current setback, Samsung is poised to attempt a comeback with the imminent release of its Galaxy S26 lineup. Historically, Samsung has leveraged early promotions and enticing freebies to attract buyers, and a similar approach is expected this time around. Additionally, the launch of new foldable flagship devices later in the year could provide Samsung with a competitive edge to reclaim some market share from Apple in the U.S.
Looking Ahead: Apple’s Next Moves
Apple is not expected to unveil the iPhone 18 series until Q3 2026, but the upcoming launch of the iPhone 17e model will likely help the company sustain its growth in the interim. Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has noted concerns about rising DRAM prices potentially increasing costs for the iPhone 18 range. However, Apple is anticipated to absorb these expenses to maintain its market advantage, supported by its robust Services division, which generated $30.013 billion in revenue during fiscal Q1 2026.
Overall, Apple’s commanding presence in the U.S. smartphone market shows little sign of abating, but the arrival of new Samsung devices later this year will be an important development to watch.
