Galaxy S26 Plus Mass Production Begins with Familiar Display
Samsung is gearing up for the official launch of its Galaxy S26 series, expected to take place in late February. However, recent reports suggest that the Galaxy S26 Plus will see minimal changes compared to its predecessor. Industry insiders have revealed that the phone is set to enter mass production later this month, featuring the same 6.66-inch display panel as the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Display and Hardware Details
Initially, Samsung had explored the possibility of upgrading the Galaxy S26 Plus with a more advanced OLED display, similar to the one developed for the Galaxy S26 Edge. Despite these considerations, the company ultimately decided to retain the previous generation’s screen technology for the Plus model. Some minor improvements might be made to the OLED panel’s layers, but the overall display specifications will remain largely unchanged.
On the processing front, the Galaxy S26 Plus will be powered by either the new Exynos 2600 or the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Elite chip, depending on the region. This represents the main upgrade for the Plus variant, as the design and display will closely mirror those of the Galaxy S25 Plus.
Background and Samsung’s Strategy
Samsung’s development timeline for the Galaxy S26 Plus was reportedly constrained. Earlier plans had suggested dropping the Plus model entirely to streamline the lineup, replacing the base model with a Galaxy S26 Pro and the Plus with an Edge variant. However, this strategy was reversed in late October, leading to the continuation of the traditional three-phone series.

This late decision left Samsung with limited time to redesign or significantly enhance the Galaxy S26 Plus. Consequently, the phone is expected to be a modest update rather than a major overhaul. Meanwhile, Samsung is focusing more heavily on the Galaxy S26 Ultra, which will feature a new display with privacy enhancements and is projected to have a much higher production volume of approximately 3.6 million units compared to the Plus and base models.
What to Expect Next
As Samsung moves closer to unveiling the Galaxy S26 series, it appears that the Plus model will maintain a conservative upgrade path, focusing on internal improvements rather than design or display innovations. Fans eager for cutting-edge display technology may find the Ultra variant more appealing. The upcoming launch will confirm how Samsung balances its flagship offerings across the different models.
