The Google Pixel Fold is googles first entry into the foldable market and offers a completely new pixel experience.
Pixel Fold Display
Thanks to reliable leaker Ross Young we know the Pixel Fold will be coming with a main internal display of 7.57″ and that it will be a 120Hz LTPO display. With a main display of 7.57″ this also means the cover display is likely to be 6.2″ and rumours are suggesting that this will also be a 120Hz display. Ross young is a display analyst with a 100% accuracy record so this is very likely true
Today’s leak – All 2021 foldables using panels from Samsung Display will be 120Hz and LTPO. This of course covers the 6.70″ Z Flip 3, 7.55″ Z Fold 3 as well as the 7.57″ foldable from Google, 7.11″ from Oppo, 8.2″ from Vivo and 8.1″ from Xiaomi.

Pixel Fold Hardware
The Pixel Fold will be coming with the google tensor chipset and its likely to be exactly the same chip found in the pixel 6 & the pixel 6 pro. While not the most powerful chipset, its very capable and pretty much on par with the snapdragon 888. It has incredible AI performance and given that Google design the Device, the Android software & the chip, we can expect a very well optimized experience.
Its expected that this will be coupled with 12GB of Ram and a choice of 256GB and 512 storage.
While no battery specs have been leaked yet we can make an estimation based on the devices measurements. Its likely that the folding phone will be powered by a 4,800 mAh battery with 30W fast charging along with wireless and reverse wireless charging.
The Pixel Fold will also come with bluetooth 5.2, Wifi6, 5G, Ultra Wideband support & an in display fingerprint scanner.
Pixel Fold Cameras
New code was discovered by 9 to 5 Google that we wont be seeing the same camera configuration as the pixel 6, but instead the same as the Pixel 5. We get a 12.2MP wide angle for the primary camera and a 12MP ultrawide for the secondary. While these are pretty old camera’s they have already been proven over multiple pixel generations and are stilll taking great photos.
Pixel Fold Launch Date
It was also discovered by 9 to 5 Google that inside code for the Google Camera App there is reference to Pixel2022 foldable so we know its coming next year. We also know that android 12L is expected to launch at the beginning of next year and given that android 12L is designed for larger screen devices, it makes sense that the two launch together. This means we can expect the pixel 6 to launch in March 2022
Pixel Fold Price
While we have no leaks on pricing yet, we can make educated estimates on the starting price of the Pixel Fold. Its their first attempt at folding phones and given the similarities it will be competing with the Z Fold. Given that the Z Fold is already established we estimate that the Pixel Fold will price itself lower and we expect a starting price of $1,500
Overall the Pixel Fold is looking to be an incredible device and while it doesn’t have the best camera system, it has great overall specs.
