Huawei Pura X2 Promises Bigger Displays and Enhanced Design

Huawei is reportedly preparing the launch of its next foldable phone, the Pura X2, which is expected to build on the unique design of its predecessor with larger displays both inside and out. According to a recent leak from a Weibo tipster, the Pura X2 will feature a wider inner foldable screen measuring 7.5 inches, surpassing the original Pura X’s display size. The phone will maintain its flip-style foldable form factor but will bring notable changes to the cover screen and camera layout.

Key Specifications and Features

The Pura X2 is said to retain a similar overall design to the first generation but with a rethought external display arrangement. Unlike the original model, which placed the cover display and camera module on the same side, the new device will reportedly split these components, dedicating one half of the exterior to a larger cover screen and positioning the camera setup on the opposite side. This design tweak aims to improve usability and aesthetics.

Under the hood, the Pura X2 is expected to offer a quad-camera system, although earlier claims of a 200MP primary sensor were later removed by the source. The foldable will come equipped with a redesigned hinge mechanism and will be available in multiple variants powered by Huawei’s Kirin 9020, 9030, and 9030 Pro chipsets. Memory options could be quite generous, with configurations offering up to 20GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage. On the software front, the device will run HarmonyOS 6.1 and include an AI assistant to enhance user experience.

Background and Launch Timing

Huawei first introduced the Pura X in March of last year, marking its entry into the flip-style foldable market with a distinctive design that diverged from typical clamshell foldables. The Pura X2 appears to be a natural evolution, focusing on larger screens and improved hardware to stay competitive. The leak also suggests a vibrant colour palette for the new model, including blue, black, green, orange, purple, and white options, catering to a wide range of user preferences.

What to Expect Next

With the original Pura X launching in early 2023, the Pura X2 is likely to debut around the same time this year, probably first in China. Fans of Huawei’s foldables should keep an eye out for official announcements or further leaks that confirm these specifications and reveal more about the device’s pricing and availability.
