After plenty of leaks and rumors coming in we finally have the reveal of the M2 Macbook air along with many key specifications, this is definitely one to look forward to!
M2 Macbook Air Design
We’ve had a flurry of design leaks coming in for the M2 Macbook air starting with renders from Jon Prosser and Renders By Ian.
We can see from these renders that the notch is going to be apparent on the new M2 Macbook air, and thanks to previous leaks we know its going to be the same size display as its predecessor coming in at 13.3″.
Its going to be a pro motion 120Hz display with a native resolution of 2560×1600 giving us 227 pixels per inch.
The renders also show us that we’ll be getting the headphone jack along with 2 x thunderbolt 4 ports and a magsafe 3 charger.
These renders were backed up further this week when Leaks Apple Pro has posted a very similar looking device thanks to the leaked CAD information he has. He also tweeted to publish the photo’s and even hand out the CAD files.

If that wasn’t enough we’ve also got a new concept video courtesy of iOS Beta news which showcases this exact design. It gives us a bit more of a realistic look of what the M2 Macbook air is going to look like, but essentially its a refined version of the predecessor with a notch.
M2 Macbook Air Hardware
When it comes to the hardware inside the upcoming Macbook its reportedly coming with 8GB Ram as standard which can be configured up to 16GB. Storage options will start from 512GB and be configurable up to 2TB
It will feature the magic keyboard with touch ID and come with 2 USB thunderbolt 4 ports and a magsafe 3 charger. It will contain a 50Wh battery to provide up to 18 hours of playback.
It will of course be powered by the M2 Apple Silicon chipset, this is expected to be an 8 core chip similar to the M1 but with improvements in both speed & efficiency.
The GPU of the M2 will also come in a choice of a 9 or 10 core GPU compared to its predecessors 7 or 8.
M2 Macbook Air Launch Date
Many leakers were claiming that the M2 Macbook air would launch this year but of course they were incorrect.
Reliable analyst Ming Chi Kuo says in his latest research note that the Macbook air will launch in the second quarter of 2022, or early in Q3 at the latest. This means we can expect to see the upcoming macbook April – July.
M2 Macbook Air Price
While there haven’t been any solid leaks on pricing it is expected that the M2 Macbook Air will remain at a similar price point as its predecessor. Its expected that the M2 Macbook Air will launch from $999 and of course prices will rise with higher spec versions.
