NVIDIA Raises DGX Spark Pricing Due to Memory Supply Constraints

NVIDIA has announced a significant price increase for its DGX Spark AI system, raising the cost from $3,999 to $4,699. This $700 hike is attributed to ongoing global shortages in memory supply, which have affected the broader technology market. The updated pricing took effect this week and applies worldwide, reflecting the challenges faced in sourcing critical components.

Key Specifications Remain Unchanged

The DGX Spark, known for its compact desktop design measuring just 150x150x50mm, continues to deliver industry-leading AI performance. It features the GB10 “Grace Blackwell” Superchip, capable of delivering 1 PFLOPs of FP4 compute power specifically tailored for AI workloads. The system is equipped with 128 GB of LPDDR5X unified memory, 4 TB of NVMe M.2 storage, and the latest ConnectX-7 Smart NIC, making it one of the smallest yet powerful AI systems available.

NVIDIA has confirmed that despite the price increase, there are no changes to the hardware or configuration of the DGX Spark. The memory capacity and other specifications remain intact, ensuring that users receive the same high-performance system as before.

Context and Market Impact

This price adjustment is specific to the DGX Spark Founders Edition sold directly by NVIDIA. Other OEM partners such as MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, and Dell, who offer their own DGX Spark variants, are expected to follow suit with similar price updates. The DGX Spark competes directly with AMD’s Ryzen AI MAX+ Mini PCs, which have also seen price increases due to DRAM shortages affecting the tech industry globally.

For comparison, AMD-powered AI mini PCs with 128 GB configurations currently start at $2,499 for Beelink’s GTR9, rising to over $3,500 for premium models like Hp‘s Z2 Mini systems. This highlights the broader trend of rising costs for AI-capable desktop systems amid supply chain challenges.

What to Expect Next

While existing orders for the DGX Spark will honour the original pricing, prospective buyers should anticipate the new MSRP of $4,699 when purchasing directly from NVIDIA. The company emphasises that the DGX Spark remains a strong value proposition in the AI infrastructure space despite the price adjustment. Moving forward, it will be important to monitor how OEM partners adjust their pricing and whether memory supply constraints ease in the near future.
