OnePlus 13 Receives OxygenOS 16 Update with Key Charging Improvements

OnePlus has started rolling out a new OxygenOS 16 update for the OnePlus 13, initially targeting users in India before a wider release. This update, version 16.0.3.501, introduces an important enhancement to the phone’s charging system, expanding the bypass charging feature beyond its previous gaming-only functionality. This means the device now intelligently manages power delivery during other high-load activities to better protect the battery and reduce overheating risks.

Expanded Bypass Charging and Other Feature Enhancements

Bypass charging on the OnePlus 13 originally routed power directly to the system during gaming sessions, bypassing the battery to preserve its longevity. With this update, OnePlus has added new controls and thresholds that apply this behaviour in additional high-demand scenarios, making the phone’s power management more versatile and efficient. Aside from charging improvements, the update also brings several smaller but useful tweaks.

The Photos app now supports editing images up to 50MP without any loss in quality, enhancing the device’s photography capabilities. The app drawer gains better organisation with new categories such as “Office” and “Finance,” helping users find apps more easily. Additionally, the Private Safe feature has been improved to allow easier browsing, searching, and sharing of files. Security is also strengthened by including the January 2026 Android security patch.

Context and What to Expect Next

The OnePlus 13 has already enjoyed a successful year, earning the Editor’s Choice phone of 2025 thanks to its strong performance and user experience. This update continues OnePlus’ commitment to refining OxygenOS 16, which builds upon Android 16 with its own set of enhancements. As is typical with OnePlus OTA releases, the update is initially available in India, with other regions expected to receive it in the coming weeks once any early issues are addressed.

Users outside India should keep an eye out for the update rollout expanding globally, as these incremental improvements help maintain the OnePlus 13’s competitive edge in the flagship smartphone market.
