Introducing the RedMagic 11 Air: A Lightweight Gaming Phone with Powerful Specs

RedMagic has unveiled its latest smartphone, the RedMagic 11 Air, in China, positioning it as a sleek and lightweight gaming device that doesn’t compromise on performance. This new model blends the trend for thinner phones with the robust features expected from a gaming handset, including a transparent design and an active cooling fan with RGB lighting. At its core, the device is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Elite chipset, ensuring strong performance for gaming and everyday use.

Display, Performance and Cooling Features

The RedMagic 11 Air sports a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with a sharp resolution of 1,216 by 2,688 pixels. Gamers will appreciate the smooth 144Hz refresh rate and the durable Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection. The screen also incorporates a 16MP under-display selfie camera, maintaining an uninterrupted viewing experience, along with an optical fingerprint scanner embedded beneath the panel for secure unlocking.

Performance-wise, the phone offers up to 16GB of LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, boasting a high memory bandwidth of 9,600 MB/s, paired with up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage capable of read speeds up to 4,200 MB/s. These specifications make the 11 Air well-suited for demanding games and multitasking. Additionally, the device includes capacitive shoulder triggers, a feature that enhances gaming control and responsiveness.

Despite its slim profile of just 7.85mm thickness and a weight of 207 grams, the RedMagic 11 Air retains an active cooling system featuring a spinning fan that can reach speeds of up to 24,000 RPM. This helps manage heat during extended gaming sessions. The phone also carries an IP54 rating, providing resistance against dust and water splashes, which adds a layer of durability.

Camera and Battery Capabilities

On the photography front, the RedMagic 11 Air is equipped with a dual-camera setup on the rear. The primary sensor is a 50MP unit with a 1/1.55-inch sensor size and optical image stabilization (OIS), offering sharp and stable shots. It is complemented by an 8MP ultrawide camera, allowing users to capture wider scenes.

Battery life is another highlight, with a sizeable 7,000mAh battery that supports fast 120W wired charging. This combination promises long usage times and quick top-ups, which is particularly important for gamers and heavy users. The device runs RedMagic OS 11.0, based on the latest Android 16, providing an up-to-date software experience.

Pricing, Availability and Colours

The RedMagic 11 Air will be available in two colour options: Quantum Black and Stardust White. Pricing starts at CNY 3,499 (approximately $502) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant, while the top-tier 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model is priced at CNY 4,199 (around $602). Both configurations are currently listed on Nubia’s official online store in China, although there is no confirmed international launch date as of yet.

This launch continues RedMagic’s strategy of offering gaming-centric smartphones that balance high-end hardware with a more manageable form factor. By incorporating features like a high-refresh-rate AMOLED display, powerful internals, and active cooling into a thinner chassis, the 11 Air aims to attract gamers who prefer a lighter device without sacrificing performance.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see if RedMagic expands availability beyond China and how the 11 Air competes with other gaming phones in the global market. For now, the RedMagic 11 Air presents a compelling option for users seeking a capable gaming phone with a distinctive design and solid battery life.
