Samsung Kicks Off Galaxy S26 Ultra Production
As anticipation builds for Samsung’s upcoming ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event, fresh reports reveal that the South Korean tech giant is starting mass production of the Galaxy S26 Ultra this December. This move aligns with the Ultra model’s significant share of the S-series sales, typically accounting for around 50 percent of the total. Meanwhile, the base Galaxy S26 and the S26+ are expected to enter mass production early next year, setting the stage for a staggered launch of the new flagship lineup.
Camera Specifications and Cost Considerations
Recent information from The Elec confirms earlier rumours regarding the base Galaxy S26’s camera setup. Unlike previous years where Samsung upgraded the camera modules for the standard model, the Galaxy S26 will reportedly retain the same camera hardware found in the Galaxy S25. This decision appears to be driven by the need to control production costs amidst rising component prices and to maintain competitive pricing against rivals like Apple’s iPhone 17, which launched without a price increase despite notable upgrades.
The base Galaxy S26 is expected to feature a 50MP wide-angle lens, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP telephoto lens, mirroring last year’s specifications. Although the device was originally designed with potential camera upgrades in mind, Samsung now faces the challenge of adjusting internal component placement to accommodate the unchanged modules.

Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Camera Setup Remains Largely Unchanged
In contrast, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is anticipated to maintain a camera system very similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The flagship model is expected to include a 200MP ISOCELL HP2 main sensor, a 12MP ISOCELL 3LD 3x telephoto lens, a 50MP ultra-wide camera (either ISOCELL JN3 or Sony IMX564), a 50MP IMX854 5x periscope telephoto lens, and a 12MP IMX874 front-facing camera. Some minor adjustments, such as potential changes to aperture sizes, may be present, but the overall setup is largely consistent with the previous generation.
Additional Features and What to Expect
Beyond the camera hardware, the Galaxy S26 series is expected to introduce built-in magnets designed to enhance wireless charging speeds. This addition could also pave the way for a new range of magnetic accessories tailored for the upcoming smartphones, expanding the ecosystem around Samsung’s flagship devices.
With mass production already underway for the Ultra model and the base variants following soon, Samsung appears to be strategically balancing innovation with cost efficiency. Fans and industry watchers should keep an eye on the official launch event for further confirmation of these details and to see how Samsung positions the Galaxy S26 series against its competitors.
