Samsung’s Top OLED Panels Reserved for iPhone 18

According to a recent rumour from China, Samsung is set to supply Apple with its highest quality OLED panels for the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup. These displays are expected to be significantly brighter than previous models, highlighting Samsung’s commitment to delivering premium screen technology to Apple. Meanwhile, BOE, another key supplier, is reportedly struggling to meet Apple’s stringent brightness requirements, which may result in increased panel production shifting to Samsung and possibly LG.

Advanced LTPO+ Technology Enhances iPhone Displays

This development aligns with earlier reports indicating that Samsung’s LTPO+ (Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide) panels will be central to the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max models. LTPO+ technology not only boosts brightness but also facilitates the integration of Face ID sensors beneath the screen, potentially allowing Apple to eliminate the notch that has been a hallmark of recent iPhones. BOE has been singled out as the weaker supplier in this regard, as only Samsung and LG currently possess the capability to manufacture these advanced LTPO+ panels.

Galaxy S26 Displays Remain Unchanged

In contrast, rumours suggest that Samsung’s forthcoming Galaxy S26 series will continue to use the same display technology as their predecessors. This implies that Samsung is prioritising its best display technology for Apple’s iPhones, while its own Galaxy flagship phones may not see significant improvements in screen brightness or technology this cycle. Such a strategy underscores Samsung’s role as a key supplier in the premium smartphone display market, even if it means reserving its top-tier panels for competitors.

Looking Ahead

As the iPhone 18 launch approaches, it will be interesting to see how these display advancements impact user experience and whether Samsung’s Galaxy series will catch up in future iterations. For now, Apple seems poised to benefit from Samsung’s brightest and most advanced OLED technology, reinforcing its position in the premium smartphone segment.
