Xiaomi’s Pad 8 Series Ready to Go Global

Xiaomi’s recently unveiled Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro tablets, which made their debut in China last September, are now preparing for an international launch. This development is suggested by the appearance of their EU Energy Labels, signalling imminent availability in European markets. The timing of this release is expected to coincide with the global rollout of the Xiaomi 17 and Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphones, likely just before the Mobile World Congress (MWC) event in Barcelona, starting on March 2.

Key Specifications and Features

Both the Pad 8 and Pad 8 Pro feature an 11.2-inch IPS LCD display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 800 nits, ensuring vibrant visuals. They come equipped with quad-speaker setups and house a substantial 9,200mAh battery that supports 22.5W reverse wired charging, allowing the tablets to charge other devices.

The Pad 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor and includes a 13MP rear camera alongside an 8MP front-facing camera. It supports 45W wired charging. In contrast, the Pad 8 Pro boasts the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a 50MP rear camera, and a 32MP selfie camera. It also supports faster 67W wired charging and features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for enhanced security.

Colour Options and Storage Variants

According to a tipster on X, the Pad 8 will be available in blue, grey, and green colour options. It will offer configurations with 8GB of RAM paired with either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The Pad 8 Pro shares the same colour palette but offers two RAM and storage combinations: 8GB RAM with 256GB storage, and a higher-end 12GB RAM with 512GB storage variant.

Context and What to Expect

This international launch follows Xiaomi’s strategy of expanding its tablet lineup beyond China, aiming to capture a broader market. The Pad 8 series represents a significant step forward with high refresh rate displays and powerful processors, positioning them well against competitors in the mid-to-high-end tablet segment. The expected launch window around MWC suggests Xiaomi is aligning its product announcements to maximise global attention.

As the launch date approaches, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi prices these tablets internationally and how they perform in real-world usage compared to their Chinese counterparts. Fans and potential buyers should keep an eye out for official announcements and detailed reviews following the global release.
