Xiaomi Enters the Vision Gran Turismo Project with Futuristic Hypercar

At MWC 2026 in Barcelona, Xiaomi made a striking entrance into the automotive world by unveiling its Vision Gran Turismo (GT) concept hypercar. This marks the company’s debut in the prestigious Vision Gran Turismo project, an initiative spearheaded by Gran Turismo producer Kazunori Yamauchi. The project invites renowned automakers to craft futuristic concept cars for the popular PlayStation racing game Gran Turismo 7. Xiaomi stands out as the first technology brand to join this elite group, which includes legendary manufacturers such as Ferrari, Porsche, and Mercedes-Benz.

Cutting-Edge Design and Aerodynamics

The Vision GT concept boasts a sleek, aerodynamics-driven design highlighted by a teardrop-shaped cockpit and a body sculpted with air ducts and cutouts to reduce weight and enhance dynamics. Its light blue finish is complemented by matching accented wheels and bold styling touches, including scissor doors, a shark-fin roof, and distinctive T-shaped headlights. At the rear, a halo-style taillight doubles as an air outlet, paired with a large diffuser to maximise airflow efficiency.

With a drag coefficient of just 0.29 and a downforce rating of -1.2, the hypercar incorporates innovative features such as the Active Wake Control System and Accretion Rims, both designed to optimise airflow and aerodynamic performance.

Powertrain and Performance Highlights

Under the hood, the Xiaomi Vision GT is powered by the company’s 900V Silicon Carbide platform, delivering an impressive output of nearly 1,900 horsepower. To manage this immense power, the hypercar employs advanced components including carbon-ceramic brakes and centre-lock wheels, ensuring both performance and control at high speeds.

Interior and Connectivity Innovations

The interior of the Vision GT is crafted with a focus on comfort and cutting-edge technology. Xiaomi introduces the cocoon-like Sofa Racer cabin, where the dashboard, seats, and doors merge seamlessly into a unified space. The butterfly-shaped steering wheel features an integrated display, complemented by a panoramic screen that enhances driver interaction. Additionally, the Xiaomi Pulse system uses light and sound to provide an immersive interface experience.

Further enhancing the concept’s appeal is its integration with Xiaomi’s Human x Car x Home ecosystem. This connection allows the vehicle to adapt and personalise settings based on the driver’s mood and behaviour, offering a unique blend of technology and user experience.

Context and Future Availability

The Vision Gran Turismo project has long been a platform for automotive creativity, with established carmakers showcasing their visions for the future of driving. Xiaomi’s participation signals the brand’s expanding ambitions beyond smartphones and consumer electronics into automotive innovation. Alongside this reveal, Xiaomi also announced new devices such as the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Pad 8, and Pad 8 Pro at MWC 2026.

The Vision GT hypercar concept is currently on display at MWC 2026 and will soon be introduced to players within Gran Turismo 7, allowing fans to experience Xiaomi’s futuristic design and technology in a virtual environment.

As Xiaomi continues to explore automotive design and technology integration, it will be interesting to see how this concept influences future developments both in the virtual and real worlds.
